Scheduled
As part of our ongoing efforts to continually improve our service, on Thursday April 4th 2019, we will be migrating selected servers to a new data centre facility. The migration is part of a planned maintenance schedule and ensures that your services remain in an optimal environment.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding while we migrate your service. The Team at Crucial look forward to providing you with the same high level of reliability and service into the future.

FAQs

1. What will happen to my server? Does my hardware change? Does my IP address change? Does my DNS change? What is changing?

The only change that is being made to your server is its physical location. Our hosting infrastructure is migrating from the current data centre located in Pyrmont, Sydney, to another data centre also located in Pyrmont, Sydney. Your hardware, firewall configurations, DNS, IP addresses, software and configuration settings will remain the same.

2. When will this migration occur?
The migration will be performed between the times of 10PM and 4AM on the date specified above. Crucial routinely migrates hundreds of hosting services between servers and data centres. The same experienced team will be performing the migration of your server.

3. What do I need to do?
In most cases, the only thing you will need to do is double check that your service is working as expected after the migration. Our monitoring systems will let us know of issues in most instances. To minimise the potential downtime for your server, please disable any software updates that may be installed upon start up or shutdown.

4. How much downtime will there be?
This is something that we are working very hard to minimise. The downtime for your server may vary depending on the type of hosting along with a number of other factors. Although the migration window will be 6 hours, the average downtime will be less than 120 minutes per service as they are migrated in batches.

5. Can I request a specific migration time?
Due to the size and complexity of this project specific requests cannot be accommodated. We are executing the move at the lowest activity times of the day.

6. Will this cost me anything?
No, the migration will be done free of charge and there will be no change to your ongoing server costs.
